Canoe descent in Rio Cares-Deva
The canoe activity is carried out on the Deva river and Cares river, 2 of the main rivers of Picos de Europa. The usual descent we make is the low stretch of them that runs from the confluence of these two rivers in the town of Panes. The descent runs along the section that takes place in the mythical competition “Descent from the Deva River” of approximately 12 kilometers, between the towns of Panes (Asturias) and Unquera (Cantabria). The Deva is the river, the second river with the most canoe descents after the mythical Sella. The confluence of Cares and Deva in Panes in the middle stretch of the river causes a good flow in the river and therefore enough current to be able to make the descent to face the descent of most of the route without much effort and without having to get down from it to sail. Throughout the tour we can get off the canoes on the shore to rest, take some pictures of the group, regroup or eat and have some of what we carry in the watertight drum. The graduation of the river is 2nd grade, which causes small or rapid currents without any difficulty. From the beginner to the expert through children, young people and adults can do this activity without the company of a guide.
